Painted Turtle
Identification/Variations: Painted Turtles have a olive green or greenish black shell above and red below. They also have yellow striping on their faces and legs.
Range/Habitat: These turtles are found in the Willamette Valley are also found at low elevations in the Puget Sound. They are most commonly seen from afar basking on logs during warm days in the spring.
Notes: Like most turtles, Painted Turtles enjoy soaking up rays while basking on partially submerged logs. When spooked they will retreat underwater.
