Desert Horned Lizard

Identification/Variations: Desert Horned Lizards are typically a gray brown color with orange markings. It has the “classic” horned lizard look in that it has pronounced spines protruding from the back of the head and back.

Range/Habitat: In the northwest these lizards are found in desert flats with loose soil in southeast Oregon and southwest Idaho. The majority of this lizard’s range is in California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona outside the northwest.

Notes: This lizard is not particularly speedy and relies heavily on camouflage for protection.
