Identification/Variations: Siskiyou Mountain Salamanders are typically a shade of brown/red/purple with significant white speckling. Some individuals have a faint dorsal stripe.
Range/Habitat: This salamander is found only in talus and rock rubble in moist areas. They are most common at lower elevations in the Applegate drainage of southern Oregon and northern California.
Notes: In northern California, populations of salamanders formerly believed to be either Plethodon stormi or Plethodon elongatus have been classified as a separate species; Plethodon asupak.
